A Starbucks & Slime Birthday
We had so much fun bringing this birthday theme to life! While the main activity was a little chaotic (I don’t think I’d recommend making slime with a recipe you’ve never tested in your kitchen with 8 little girls), we had a blast. Combining B’s passion for slime with her love for a cake pop and frappuccino was a hit.
I decided to make her cake this year using inspiration I found online. I ordered a plain white cake from Walmart with pink icing along the edges, and finished it at home the morning of the party. The pink drips were made with Cake Drip (found at Walmart) and the cup is just an empty extra cup I asked for at Starbucks after ordering 15+ cake pops ;).
When each girl arrived, she was greeted by a Starbucks barista (me!) and asked for her order. We gave the option of an “Iced Mocha Latte” (chocolate milk) or “Pink Drink” (pink lemonade with strawberries), a cake pop, and Starbucks popcorn. It was a great way to sugar the kids up immediately, and who doesn’t love a snack while they craft?
I threw this activity together last minute because I felt like we needed one more small activity while I got the slime station ready. This was a great way to keep the first arrivals busy while the party guests all filed in. I found a pack of kid-sized green aprons on Amazon, and picked out a few sticker packs at Michael’s. I also had a mixed assortment of ribbons they could tie to their neck straps for some extra sparkle!
Because the main activity was “making slime,” B and I dreamed up a list of Secret Menu Slimes for each girl to choose from. We dyed our slime with food coloring, added scented oils (normally used for candle making), and a few options of slime mix-in’s that were Starbucks themed (plastic coffee beans, tiny strawberry slices, etc.)
At the end of the party, each girl was given a Starbucks bag to fill with items from our storefront. B and I made tiny cups with silicone straws to mimic the fun drink-ware Starbucks sells. I found coffee bags on Amazon, made custom labels, and filled them with candy.
