Holiday Tables 2024

Holiday Tables 2024

I had such a great time designing a table for the Holiday Tables event! The community of exhibitors that participated were all so talented, and no two tables were alike. I’ve been attending this annual event in Wichita since I was a pre-teen with my mom and grandmother, so it was especially sweet to partake in a local tradition I’ve attended for decades now. I’ve blogged my own table and a few other tables I thought would be fun to share. All of the tables were gorgeous, and it was a treat to see these visions set up in real time and meet the designers behind them.

My table centered around a very large still life painting I made to reflect the table setting. It was the largest piece I’ve ever painted, and while I love working at that size, transporting it was a bit of a headache. I wanted the table to be something you’d see at my own home; a showcase of my personal style. This made it easier to curate because I already had a lot of the accessories (stockings, ornaments, garland, etc.) and I also love that Holiday Tables can often be a way to peek into people’s personal home decor, heirlooms and collections.

I found these vintage napkins at an estate sale for $4 for the lot, and thought they’d be a fun addition to our Christmas table. I love the little gold detailing around the holly leaves. They were quite a bit smaller and didn’t fit the napkin rings I have, so we used velvet ribbon instead.

I always have such a hard time deciding on the tree’s color scheme, which is probably why we have multiple in our house at Christmastime! I loved how this turned out, thankfully. This is such a simple tree, so less was more. I have a mix of modern glass blown ornaments and vintage ornaments with an aged patina, and it all came together in a subtle eclectic way. The last day of set-up, I was frantically painting the gold crown at the top with gold leaf, and it pulled everything together.

I incorporated elements from the painting into the rest of the table - the wine bottle, the cups, the candy, and the (faux) food. It was a bit of an eye-spy for attendees to match the painting with the scene.

Kicking off the rest of the blog post with this fantastic setup by my friends Natalie and Chloe. They went with a New Year’s Eve table, and everything was appropriately glam and sparkly down to the last detail. They won Exhibitor’s Choice, and rightly so!

The candy machine coordinating with everything else was such a cool addition!

Another friend, Courtney, and her colleague Nikki, created this beautiful table with the title “Coastal Traditions.” It’s giving Nancy Meyers vibes, and I’m here for it!

I loved all the mixing of red/blue patterns and spruce-y greens.

If you’ve followed here for awhile, you’ve seen me post about the local shop Love of Character. My friend Mary and her team did a fantastic job as always with their table, and I love that they have done kid tables year after year. Her new location off Rock Rd in East Wichita is so fabulous, as well. If you’re local and haven’t visited, pop in asap!

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore did one of my favorite tables at the event. I love shopping in there for odds and ends when doing projects, especially because it benefits such a great cause.

This vintage tv had a working screen inside of it to look like it was really running, and it was magical!

LoveLee Homes did a beautiful job with this neutral and glamorous setup. It was a beautiful winter wonderland table, and I loved all the details as you walked through it.

McCoy’s Consign and Design did a beautiful tradition table with lots of layers that felt regal but also current. I loved their hanging light fixture that set their scene apart in the big open gallery space.

Rodeo Drive did a wonderful job with their modern art inspired table! I loved the plates that were procured from a local estate sale of an art collector.

My friend Annie at Invio did a fantastic job with this Thanksgiving inspired table, down to the details of Yahtzee cards, fake popcorn and a cellphone. I loved the beautiful painted screen that pulled everything together.

This table was done by a Trio of Local Artists, and includes my fellow potter friend Alex. I loved their mixing of pink and green with so many varied textures. The three artists are a potter, abstract artist, and florist. Their vision came together so beautifully!

Finally, this table by Ten Works was too fun not to share. I loved their custom Vegas inspired sign. The shelving and poker table were created by their business, and it really was a gorgeous way to display such fantastic craftsmanship.
